Unusual Toy Tank
I've first seen this tank when my family and I went to Fairmart in Caloocan. When my brother went to the toy section (The store was like an old hall, no second floor but a large single space divided only to what they sell) alone and my mom ask me to follow him. As usual my brother saw the blue locomotive train in the "estante," they were two similar trains, the other being the red one. but the far edges of the "estante" I saw this tank but not clearly because my eyes is a little bit blurry I thought it was mangled toy fit only for display. Because the front part of the tank is elevated, I thought the mechanics inside is exposed or pulled out by someone.
or the wheels that move it below (I thought the rubber tracks is just a decorative design) is pulled out causing it to elevate. So I did not buy it, days pass and since I use the LRT 1 to commute to the university I always pass the old shop. then one time when I went home early this tank went in to my mind and urge me to look at it clearly again. maybe because the design is unusual for a tank, I assume that this toy is old because most of toy that they sell has time showing on it (dust and box discoloration). I went inside the store and to my luck is still there. When I ask for it the lady placed it on the top of the "estante." there I saw it that it was not broke. the white thing that I thought to be a build up of dust was part of the design of the tank. The urge to buy it just got bigger but problem came and the tank almost slips to being mine, it has no price tag and the box is missing. But to my persistent nagging (and the lady being a professional, not getting annoyed.) sold it to me for 150 pesos which I gladly accept because she just created the price just to sold this to me. I have it tested and it work perfectly, the barrel and the antenna lights blinks perfectly; the rubber tracks has no sign of melting (I expect this because of our country's tropical weather.) and it gave a clicking sound when it move. all seems to be perfect but still there are still one problem I encounter when I got home.
When I was trying the toy in my bed I created a small course to see if it could fall back again if it is flip in the side. I tried and second later the tank won't move. Annoyed I opened it up and saw that the wiring has been cut by the small copper metal that has been let loose of its position. I manage to know how to make it function again but the lights and the clicking sound will be sacrifice, because it was wired to the copper metal and I have no place in placing that metal back. the other day I went to an electrician to glued the wiring again and to my relief (and to my 150 pesos) it works. I place this tank on a piece of paper before I put it in the cabinet not to make the rubber stuck in the surface of the cabinet.

My Old Train Clock
I'm a big fan of trains specially the old looking ones, though Malabon has no trains. my Tita always tells me that when they where young they could here the sound of the train chugging and hooting from miles away (impossible today because the train their hearing is non existing today and if still, noise pollution will clog the mechanical siren). I imagine that it look like this but with more details. Anyway this is my old clock and the oldest in our house. I bought this in SM North when i was in grade two, what I remember is it has a small box with a design of green pastures with the usual cow drawing (the box was either missing or has been thrown out because our old house was demolished to give way for our new house). Now eleven years pass still this clock works but the train has taken its toll mainly by time and my misuse. The alarm sound with real train recordings has been lost because I always play with it, the gold colored button to set the alarm is fading due again to my use.
The battery socket was rusting because when I placed this clock on a large box along with other stuff I forgot to took off the battery and took me six years to get this clock before I could took it. The clock works with only two batteries instead of three as seen from the picture, I think using three battery you could operate the alarm of the clock. I don't know if SM or other store still sell them, if still I would like to buy a new one.
